Ducted Air Conditioner Repair Mount Pleasant

The client had just purchased this new single-storey home in Mount Pleasant. When they tried turning on the ducted air conditioning system there was no power or connectivity. The remote control was reporting a communication error.

Repairing the ducted air conditioning unit

After we inspected the ducted aircon unit the first task was to isolate the issue. The wired remote control from the wall was displaying an error code 12. This error is typical of a breakdown from the remote controller to the circuit board.

With further inspection, we began to narrow down the problem with a series of tests that would eventually lead to the cause. We tested the fuses, the condenser unit, the motor and all the filters. Eventually, we discovered that a wire on the circuit board had come away.

Using a soldering iron, we reattached the wire and then tested the ducted system. The aircon fired up straight away.

Servicing the ducted air conditioner unit

While we were at the property we noticed that the air vents and grilles had begun to collect dust and fibres. We removed the vents and grilles and cleaned them using a vacuum, hose and warm soapy water. It is important the the vents are free of dust and other obstructions. This will help make the ducted system work at its optimum. The vents and grilles should be cleaned every six months.
